BT appear to be in the midst of a cunning plan to remove half of the call boxes in Scotland.
Many BT call boxes in rural areas do not accept coins.
There are no instructions inside the call box on how to make calls. Lift the receiver and a request for payment of £4 appears.
All of these call boxes have notices to the effect that the phone box isn't being used and will be removed.
This is a Catch 22 situation.
BT have made it impossible to use the phone box.
Their records show that nobody is using the box.
They will remove the box.
Let's get the British out of the Scottish phone business.
We need phone boxes in rural Scotland for all sorts of reasons. With phones that accept coins.
We need Scotfone.
