Every Average Speed Camera in Britain will be crushed/recycled/destroyed/binned/made illegal on 7th May 2010.

There is a cancer spreading within Britain, slowly, inexorably crushing the life in the country, destroying the vigour and spirit of the people. And this disease is official government policy.

In the past week, I have made two trips to the south east of England. I have been astonished by the rapid spread of 50mph sections controlled by Average Speed Cameras. You all travel on the motorways and roads of Britain and have encountered these aberations of competent thought. Long stretches of road where no work is being done but there is a fine display of the best of cone art, in lines, in groups, in abstract shapes. Why?

George Orwell in "1984" wasn't able to stretch his fertile imagination to imagine this level of manupulation of the British population.

A message for the Transport Minister - It's not the drivers going fast that are the problem. There is a better than average chance that they are awake. The problem is with the slow drivers who are either asleep, picking their nose, beating the kids in the back seat or finishing the remains of a McDonald's Big Mac.

I gave a speech on "Transport for the 21st Century at Westwood, B.C., Canada on 18th October 2008. It is worth restating the position of The Jacobite Party:-

No speed limits on British roads. Obey the Basic Rule.
The Basic Rule states that if you drive at a speed greater than conditions allow, you are guilty of dangerous driving. No points system. No ifs, ands or buts. Violate the Basic Rule and you lose your driving license. This puts the responsibility for safe driving on the driver. Police will be freed from enforcement and speed trap duties and be able to get back to work finding criminals and protecting the public.

The roads must be repaired. This will be done at night, by workers paid for their special skills in small sections with the workers protected by adequate safety barriers.
