Charles,
I asked reception to have your Chief Executive send me her e-mail address so that we could have a private conversation on the matter.
Since she has elected to delegate the task, she clearly thinks it deserves wider circulation.
Why is Douglas Hendry still employed by the Council. He is incompetent.
Andrew Law has cost the Argyll and Bute taxpayer a significant amount of money. I understand that he is leaving his post. Is any
attempt being made to recoup these monies?
He failed to notify Scottish Enterprise that ownership of Helensburgh Pierhead site was under legal dispute prior to the Helensburgh Partnership being set up. As a result, £600,000 of taxpayer money was wasted.
He started proceedings in the Court of Session using an expensive Edinburgh law firm when any reading of the original legal document assigning the Helensburgh Pierhead to the burghers
of Helensburgh suggests that any building on the Pierhead would result in the property reverting to Luss Estates.
He advertised the Community Centre, formerly the Row School Board Parish School on East Clyde Street for sale, to "Establish its market value".
Since any bidder has to do due diligence to evaluate the property prior to bidding, when there is no intention to sell, this if fraud.
(The School is a prime site for commercial development and should not be used for council offices).
He has engaged in numerous illegal actions relating to the Oban Airport. Some of these have resulted in Court action with the Council legal representation a drain on Argyll and Bute Council resources.
The Airport is costing Argyll and Bute taxpayers daily. Why is the Council in the Airport business?
In 2007 Nigel Stewart certified the election results at Luss. In the morning of the election, the wrong ballot papers were given to voters. This was discovered around 11am. The ballot boxes were opened, the voters identified, tracked down and allowed to vote a second time with the correct ballot papers.
In Scotland, Election Registrars are independent and are not subject to scrutiny by The Election Commission. Nigel Stewart certified an illegal
election and should be prosecuted for his actions which brought Scottish Democracy into question.
On the evening of 10th September 2008, I was visited by two police officers of the Strathclyde Police force, Helensburgh and asked to accompany them to Clydebank Police Station. I was questioned for an hour and a half by two detectives and charged with breach of the peace.
This matter involved a conversation I had at 8am on the morning of 8th September with a woman at Milton BP station.
It is my understanding that the woman who filed the complaint is a friend of Vivien Dance, an Argyll and Bute councillor.
I have heard nothing since from the police or the Procurator Fiscal's office in Dumbarton.
I visited the Procurator Fiscal's office earlier in the week. I was led to believe that I was sentenced to community service however the police were unable to locate me and because of my age and lack of prior convictions, the matter was dropped.
However, the Procurator Fiscal's office refuse to discuss the circumstances with me since it would be improper for them to deal directly with "The Accused". They suggest that I hire a lawyer.
After visiting your headquarters yesterday, I travelled to Campbeltown. The road from Tarbert to Campbeltown is a disgrace and puts the Council at considerable liability.
There were numerous places where the roadway was flooded. This was entirely due to the lack of any drainage. It is the Council's responsibility to build and maintain proper roads.
The Council is failing the residents of the Kintyre Peninsula.
Best wishes,
John Black
