History of The Jacobite Party

The modern incarnation of The Jacobite Party was launched on 8th July 2005 at Glenfinnan. This was the direct result of the debauchle that was the 2005 US Formula 1 Grand Prix at Indianapolis. At the time, there were two tyre manufacturers involved in Formula 1, Bridgestone and Michelin. Bridgestone arrived at the circuit with the wrong specification of tyres and the combined might of the Formula 1 hierarchy were unable to arrive at a solution to the problem. The European rules could not be broken and the race was a farce. If the race had been run under American sanction, a solution would have been found and the spectators would have been entertained to the race they paid good money to see.
Britain continues to be plagued by this European mind set that rules must be obeyed without question. The focus on the important issues is lost to the detriment of the economy and society in general.
The launch of The Scottish Jacobite Party was timed to coincide with the G8 Meeting at Gleneagles. The London bombings on 7th July 2005 brought a premature end to the G8 Meeting and The Jacobite Party launch was lost in the media reaction to the outrage.
In 2005, the chances of The Scottish Jacobite Party having any influence on UK politics were vanishingly small. There was a slightly better chance of having a role in the politics of Scotland. For that to be effective, Scotland had to be free of the influence of Westminster. Scotland had to be Independent.
In 2010, the world has moved on. We have had 15 years of New Labour. Gordon Brown, the Chancellor who eliminated boom and bust has just presided over the biggest bust since the Depression of the 1930s. He doesn't understand the economic cycle and has overreacted to the economic downturn and poured billions of pounds into the banks. The bankers have your money safely in their vaults and have it invested to sustain their growing salaries and bonuses. Meanwhile, sound businesses are going to the wall for lack of operating capital.
None of the parties have any plan to deal with the problem. They are squabbling over who will sit in the middle in the TV Debates or the role their respective wives will play in the run up to the election.
We have had over a year of continuing scandals over MPs expenses. It is clear that the present incumbents have abused the system and have no adequate plans to reform it.
It is indeed time for change
There has been collusion between the politicians, the regulators and the bankers to maintain the status quo.
We can't have those who failed to reform the banking system continue in charge of these unseemly bonuses and pay rises.
The responsible parties belong in jail.
It is time to reform and renew British politics. This will happen if you support your local Jacobite Party candidate for a United Britain, out of the EU.
The support of The Scottish Jacobite Party for an Independent Scotland was a practical approach to Scotland's problems. Today, in our judgement, that is best served by a United Britain. We have not rewritten the history of The Party. Some of the following items reflect our campaign for an Independent Scotland.
